According to police the pair yet to be identified stormed the bar last Tuesday before 10pm and ordered everyone who was inside to lie down before sealing their eyes and ears with masking tape. They allegedly stole four packs of Madison cigarettes and thereafter vanished into darkness.
It is not clear whether there was any cash in the till when the pair pounced but there were several people who were drinking beer in the bar at the time.
Masvingo police spokesman Inspector Tineyi Matake yesterday said they were still looking for the two men.
“They two armed men ordered everyone who was in the shop to lie down before they stole four packets of cigarettes and vanished into the dark,” said Insp Matake. “We have not yet managed to identify the culprits but our investigations are continuing, we intend to charge them with armed robbery.” – CR.
