THE Castle Lager Premier Soccer League is a gift that keeps on giving – more drama.
Cheers to it!
As usual Dynamos are the epicentre of mayhem with the club fighting relegation, Christian Epoupa’s saga raging like a veld fire, and Kenias Mubaiwa telling supporters to go to hang.
Relations between Lloyd Mutasa and his assistant Biggie Zuze have seen better days.
While DeMbare are struggling Highlanders are having a ball. The way they sent their Harare rivals packing at Rufaro last Sunday was the stuff of Tshilamoya, the stuff of Cremora.
Madinda Ndlovu is certainly onto something having assembled a team of youngsters without worrying about the language they speak.
Kudos to the legend.
But Ndlovu cannot go without censure for the stunt he pulled when Highlanders came to Harare and defeated Herentals 1-0 at the National Sports Stadium.
The Bosso coach’s confrontation with referee Normore Musundire was just not on.
It’s surprising that the PSL management appear to believe Ndlovu’s tale, they seem to believe it wasn’t anything major, just handbags.
“It wasn’t a scuffle, it was just an argument,” said the Bosso coach. “It was his word against my word. The referee said I said something.
At first he alleged that I had said something that he was told by his fourth official and when I asked the fourth official what I said, he (the fourth official) didn’t say anything and then the referee ended up saying that he heard me say something.
“I don’t know maybe he will tell you a different story but the question is why then didn’t he take me to the terraces. That’s where the argument was.”
Now when coaches suddenly believe that it is fine to have a verbal go at referees we have every reason to be afraid, to be very afraid.
What will they do next? Slap the man or woman in black red? Madinda needs to cool down.
The DeMbare hoodlums who denied Warriors gaffer Sunday “Mhofu” Chidzambwa entry into Rufaro last Sunday also need to take a chill pill. Nay, to borrow from Kenias Mubaiwa, they can go hang.
It’s sad that Chidzambwa was forced to go back home after failing to gain access to watch the first instalment of the Battle of Zimbabwe series.
It’s even sadder that the coaches associations have not condemned the behaviour of the DeMbare dimwits.
But on his part, Chidzambwa must also move with his PSL accreditation card. We all know who is but rules are rules, they should be followed.
One Mark Harrison is a guy who speaks his mind and the other day he said failing to convert chances appeared to be an “African problem”.
I don’t know what Mr Palm Tree takes on match days but his post-match interviews are lit, to use lingo ghetto youths come across when they “gatecrash” Unplugged.
Meanwhile, from a distance there seems to be some beef stewing between Herentals and Yadah, or more specifically between Innocent Benza and Walter Magaya. In the build-up to last weekend’s stalemate between the two teams, Magaya “prophesied” that the Herentals fans will be out to taunt him.
IB9 – as Benza is known – has not responded yet but he will sure have his day.
