POLICE have launched a manhunt for a six-men armed gang that raided a house at Chegutu’s Rifle Range and got away with US$22 000.
According to its X handle, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said the six unidentified men wore balaclavas and were armed with machetes.
They attacked the security guard who was on duty around 2am.
“They tied his hands with a rope and stole US$20 and a cellphone. The suspects gained entry into the house and attacked two occupants before stealing US$22 380 cash which was in the victim’s bedroom, motor vehicle keys for a Toyota GD6, Toyota Land Cruiser and Chevrolet Trailblazer, among other valuables,” said
The police appeal to members of the public with information on the robbers to report to the nearest police.
As armed robbery cases continue to rise, police and experts continue to encourage people to bank money and desist for keeping large sums at home.
This follows another robbery case that occurred in Borrowdale Brooke, Harare, last week where a businesswoman lost US$1 million to armed robbers.
