CHEGUTU Pirates coach Emmanuel Day believes the next two games against championship contenders Black Mambas and Herentals Under-20 will be the toughest test for his side in the Northern Region Soccer League.
The high-flying side from Mashonaland West is having a dream season as they have lost only once this year. But tomorrow they face a Black Mambas that is still to taste defeat in 14 games, away at Morris Depot.
Day believes tomorrow’s game will be one of the toughest, but will take it as any other game which they have encountered before.
“It’s going to be one of the toughest games of the season. Actually, the next two coming games, against Black Mambas and Herentals Under-20, are going to be the defining games in our league race this first half of the season.
“We are well prepared as we know the task at hand. We have done our homework, we know the strength and weakness of both teams, having watched them against Come Again at Rimuka.
“I hope to finish the first round strongly then regroup for the second half. Already, we have exceeded our target through hard work and the players are focused,” said Day.
The gaffer, who is making waves with Dzinza, as Chegutu Pirates are affectionately known by their faithful, said they felt no pressure playing away from their Pfupajena fortress.
“We will not have much pressure playing away from home as we have played better on the road. We have the best defensive record in the league. So, we will not look much into our opponents’ form,” added Day.
The Municipality of Chegutu-sponsored side will miss the services of influential midfielder Gift Mwinga who will be serving a suspension.
