CHEGUTU Pirates coach Day Gutu believes it is now up to them to win or lose the ZIFA Northern Region Division One Soccer League when they face Herentals U-20 in a decisive last day encounter at Pfupajena this afternoon.

“Dzinza” are in the driving seat with a point ahead of Black Mambas, who are away to Trojan who will play away in Shamva after the team hooligans disrupted them from hosting their home matches Bindura.

Chegutu Pirates need to win the match as a draw or defeat for Pirates coupled by a win for Black Mambas away to Trojan Stars will see Mambas eclipse Chegutu Pirates to the title on the final day.

Gutu said the clash against Herentals U-20 means a lot to the team’s future and they are not going to let the title slip away from their hands.

“This is a crucial moment for us as Chegutu Pirates. We can see the promised land and we just need to tread carefully as we crossover,” Gutu said.

“For the players it’s very crucial because history is at stake, being the first group of players to win the title with Chegutu Pirates after so many years and also taking the team into the premier league for the first time.”

“The race is not for the faint hearted ones but for those who can endure the gruelling campaign until the end. We can’t afford to drop the ball considering the high hopes that the Chegutu community have in us winning the title. We need to fight really hard on Saturday and finish off what we started,” Gutu added.

Black Mambas however, still have high chances of winning the title should they win against Trojan Stars and Chegutu Pirates falter against Herentals U-20.

In other matches, Golden Eagles after their emphatic 7-2 victory over OMNIA last weekend will be hoping for another high scoring end to the season when they host Commando Bullets at Ellis Robbins.
