ZIFA Northern Region Division One Soccer League’s surprise packages Chegutu Pirates continued with their fine run after holding Herentals Under-20 to a goalless draw at Motor Action on Saturday.

‘Dzinza’ as the team is affectionately known, have lost only once and have avoided defeat against some of the top teams that include log leaders Black Mambas.

The Day Gutu-coached side is set to face another test against Commando Bullets in their last game in the first half of the season.

“We are on the right path. It was a tough game but we managed to come up with a point. Our defence is strong and we hope to build from there come the second half of the season.

“We have a good side that is punching above its weight and we would want to finish the first half of the season strongly,” said Gutu.

The other matches saw Black Mambas playing a 0-0 stalemate against Trojan Stars while Lloyd Mutasa’s MWOS thrashed their hosts PAM 3-0.
