Chelsea after Cavani

LONDON. — Chelsea have reportedly made a £41.7million offer for PSG’s Uruguay striker Edinson Cavani. Sources say Cavani (29) – valued at £66.7m by the French champions – wants to leave due to the exit of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Cavani has scored 53 goals in 97 league games since joining PSG in 2013. Chelsea have also reportedly told Benfica they will pay the £23m release clause for Sweden defender Victor Lindelof (22). The versatile Lindelof, who can play right-back or centre back, has made just 16 league appearances in three years at Benfica.

Meanwhile, Romelu Lukaku is hopeful of completing his sensational return to Chelsea.

The Everton striker is determined to leave Goodison Park this summer and believes re-signing for his old club is still possible. — The Daily Star.
