CHEMUKUTE HIGH CELEBRATES EXCELLENCE

CHEMUKUTE High School last week held its annual Speech and Prize-Giving Day, a vibrant celebration that highlighted the institution’s commitment to academic excellence, technological innovation and the outstanding achievements of both learners and staff.

The event drew dignitaries, parents, and community members, with the Deputy Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, Honourable Vangelis Haritatos, playing a pivotal role in ensuring its success through his generous donations and steadfast support ,a gesture warmly appreciated by the school’s leadership and community.

In his remarks, School Head Mr Nowell Mutangi expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Deputy Minister, describing him as “a true friend of education and development.”

“Honourable Haritatos has continued to stand with Chemukute High in many ways. His generosity and commitment to empowering young people are a great motivation to both learners and educators,” said Mr. Mutangi.

Held under the theme “Unlocking Potential, Unleashing Dreams,” the event celebrated the hard work of students and the collaborative efforts of teachers and parents in driving the school’s success story.

“Our role as educators is not just to impart knowledge but to create an environment that nurtures creativity, discipline, and innovation,” Mr Mutangi added.

“To our prize winners, your success is a testament to your effort and determination. To those who did not win, remember that your worth is not measured by a single award, keep striving.”

Mr Mutangi also reaffirmed the school’s vibrant boarding facility, noting that the transition will enhance learning standards and create a well-rounded environment for all learners.

Representing the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (MoPSE), the Guest of Honour Mrs Miriam C. Zakeyo, the Mhondoro District Schools Inspector, delivered an uplifting speech that blended nostalgia and encouragement, recalling her days as a geography teacher at Chemukute.

“Chemukute High School is a great institution with a proud record in both academics and sports,” she said, citing notable alumni such as Elliot Mujaji, Paralympic gold medallist, and Jani Milanzi, former U23 soccer star.

“As a district representing MoPSE, we are fully behind Chemukute High in its transformation into a boarding school. “This change requires dedication, focus, and unity of purpose.”

Mrs Zakeyo congratulated all prize recipients and encouraged those who missed out to remain resilient and committed to excellence.

School Development Committee (SDC) Chairperson Mr Ayami Siyana praised parents and stakeholders for their continued support and called for timely payment of school fees to ensure smooth operations.

“As a school, we thrive on teamwork,” said Mr Siyana. Let’s continue supporting our children by meeting our financial commitments so that we maintain the high standards Chemukute is known for.”

Delivering a youthful voice of appreciation, Head boy Brendon Kore thanked all guests and parents for gracing the occasion.

“We are inspired by the encouragement we received today,” he said.

“Let us, as students, stay focused on our studies and shun substance abuse to build a better future.”

The colourful ceremony was filled with music, dance, and joyous applause as top achievers received awards in academics, sports, leadership, and cultural excellence.

As the sun set over Kadoma, one message resonated clearly -Chemukute High School continues to rise as one of the city’s landmark institutions, driven by a shared vision of unlocking potential and unleashing dreams.
