Harare is today stepping up efforts to restore order and cleanliness in the capital, with at least 300 municipal police officers expected to be deployed in a citywide crackdown on illegal vending and urban disorder.
The operation, being conducted under the Chenesa Harare campaign, will begin at the intersection of E.D Mnangagwa Road and Samora Machel Avenue before spreading to other busy areas.
Authorities say the exercise will initially prioritise engagement and persuasion, with vendors operating outside designated areas being encouraged to move to approved trading sites.
Follow our live updates as the operation gets underway, with city officials, vendors and other stakeholders weighing in on the drive to restore order while protecting livelihoods.
