THE Chevrons are making a statement in their first appearance as a full member at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub-Regional Africa Qualifier B.
They celebrated their second consecutive victory with a nine-wicket hammering of Mozambique in Nairobi, Kenya, yesterday.
They had opened their account with a 76-run (D/L Method) win over Seychelles on Saturday.
After winning the toss, the Chevrons chose to field first, and fast bowlers, Richard Ngarava and Blessing Muzarabani, led a great performance and bundled Mozambique out for only 56 runs in 13,1 overs — the lowest total ever recorded against Zimbabwe in a T20 international match.
The previous lowest record against Zimbabwe was 71 by Rwanda in Windhoek, Namibia, in November last year.

Zimbabwe comfortably chased down the target in just five overs, finishing on 57/1. Ngarava was in top gear and ripped apart the Mozambican top-order, finishing with figures of 4/16 in four overs, while Muzarabani took 3/8 in 3,1 overs. Skipper Sikandar Raza and Trevor Gwandu also took two and one wicket respectively, with the team displaying a complete performance.
Zimbabwe’s next opponent is Rwanda tomorrow. The top two sides in the sub-regional qualifier will advance to the regional final, where they will join Namibia and Uganda, who received a bye after they participated in the previous T20 World Cup, and four other teams from sub-regional qualifiers A and C.
