THE Zimbabwe national cricket team jazzed up their preparations for the ICC Men’s Cricket T20 World Cup Qualifier Africa on Friday afternoon when they received kit bags from their new sponsor, Throttle Sports.
The kit bags, supplied by the Indian-based sponsor, were handed over to the players and members of the technical department by Zimbabwe Cricket Human Resources manager Joyce Kwashira, on behalf of the cricket organisation’s managing director, Givemore Makoni. The Chevrons team manager
Lovemore Banda said the sponsorship will help boost Zimbabwe’s preparations.
“We would want to thank the sponsor for giving us the kitbags and satchels. Each member of the team should have enough bags for all their baggage.
“We just hope that this gesture by Throttle will go a long way in boosting the morale of the players and building certain team morale in terms of everyone looking the same; the uniformity which is something that we have not had in a long time,” said Banda.
The 15-man squad is set to leave for Namibia on Sunday for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifier Africa 2023. The tournament is scheduled to begin on Monday and run until December 1.
Seven teams will be vying for the two tickets to the next edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup to be hosted by the West Indies and the United States from in June 2024.
The African Qualifier will feature Zimbabwe, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and hosts Namibia.
