Chibi kicked out of Division 1

UNFASHIONABLE Chibi United’s dreams of battling for promotion into the Premier Soccer League have suffered a massive setback after the Eastern Region administration struck them off their Division One League roster. Chibi are alleged to have failed to fulfil three consecutive fixtures. They have since been replaced by former Premiership side Masvingo United.Eastern Region administrator Tedious Machawira said they took the drastic action after noting that Chibi were becoming a burden to bear this season.

“This is not how we play football or become a unit.

“Chibi were far behind paying their dues in the season and it is this reason they were cut off.

“They were supposed to pay $3 600 in total for affiliation fees, but only managed to pay $1 100, which is even less than half of the amount,” said Machawira. Machawira accused the club of lacking professionalism and neglecting referees, who handled their home games.

“Chibi FC were acting up. They were supposed to pay referees after their duties, but ended up owing them up to $1 800 in costs.

“It came to a point where they would leave the referees in the dressing rooms after their games and go into hiding and that is out of line,’’ Machawira said.

Machawira said such actions brought negative publicity to the Eastern Region.

“The last game that team played, at home, against the African Trust was embarrassing.

“After the game and seeing that they had lost, the team locked their opponents inside the grounds up to 2000hrs, which was so malicious.

“That is irresponsible, even at home they do not show up on time, which shows that they are not serious and do not qualify to be in the league,” said Machawira.
