Chibuku Road to Fame finals heat up

Afro-fusion ensembles Panhimbe Crew from Masvingo and Mashonaland West-based Boom Jazz have booked their spots in this year’s Chibuku Road to Fame national finals after emerging victorious in their respective provincial finals held on Saturday.

The national final will be held on November 14.

This year’s competition is running under the theme “Bvirarira, Tshay’iNgoma.”

In the Mashonaland West provincial finals, Heart Attack Jazz and Real Vibe Band secured second and third place, respectively.

Street Wise, another Afro-fusion group from Mashava, claimed the first runner-up position in Masvingo. Mega Power Express, a sungura outfit from Gutu, rounded out the top three.

The first-place winners received US$2 500, while the second and third-place winners took home US$1 500 and US$1 000, respectively.

The grand prize for the national competition is US$15 000, along with a recording contract.

Second and third-place finishers will receive US$10 000 and US$7 500, respectively.

The event is organised by Delta Corporation, through their Chibuku brand.
