Masvingo this weekend hosts the Chibuku Road to Fame provincial competitions to be held at Farai Beerhall tomorrow.

For years the competition has been exciting and has brought thrills at provincial and national finals.

The Road to Fame has been instrumental as it has enhanced the development of talents with some musicians making names after the competition.

Romeo Gasa and his Extra Valembe is one musician who has managed to have several after albums after winning the exciting competition.

The event is organised by Delta Beverages and the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe with the main objective to promote the development of musical and dance groups in various provinces.

Some provinces such as Manicaland, Matabeleland North, Midlands, Bulawayo and Mashonaland West have already hosted the exiting competition with the winners preparing for the final to be held in the capital.

The finals will be held at Glamis Stadium, Harare on September 26 and established musicians are billed to perform at the event.

Patricia Murambinda who is Delta marketing manager said all was in place for this year’s edition of Chibuku Road to Fame.

“The competition started three weeks ago in some of the provinces and as far as preparations are concerned we are at an advanced stage for this year’s edition,” said Murambinda.

“This will be a busy year for Chibuku, as immediately after the Chibuku Road to Fame, the brand will be quickly moving to Bulawayo to sponsor the Chibuku Main Stage at the Intwasa Festival,” she said.

Last year the first prize was won by Attack Jazz Band while the second went to a group Talent Fall Band and the third being taken by Bulawayo-based Facebook Brothers who went away with huge sums of money.
