Chicken Inn defender on road to recovery

LANKY Chicken Inn defender Vincent Moyo says he is now up and about and is close to regaining full fitness.

Moyo has been in treatment for the last three months owing to a muscle spasm injury on his left foot. A muscle spasm – is also known as a charley horse, muscle cramp, or twitch and is a sudden, involuntary movement in one or more muscles. Muscle pain, fatigue and overuse are the most common causes of muscle spasms. Other causes include stress, anxiety and dehydration, which can lead to muscle twitches in the face.

The player, who joined Gamecocks in mid-2022 from former Castle Lager Premiership side Bulawayo City, is optimistic that he will soon return to the field of play.

“Picking up an injury is part of the game, but being out for long really hurts. However, I have made great progress and I believe it’s now a matter of time before I will be back to full fitness. Sometimes, it all needs one to be prayerful and keep on believing in themselves,” said Moyo.

With him out, Chicken Inn have been fielding towering Itai Mabunu, club captain Xolani Ndlovu, young Arthur Chinda and new signing Lincoln Mangaira in defence.  Also, yet to do duty for Gamecocks this season are veteran midfielder Tafadzwa Kutinyu and another defender Neilson Ketala,  who also picked up some knocks.

As a result, the former champions were compelled not to register Kutinyu for the first half of the season. Another combative player, Dominic Jaricha, who is also from Bulawayo City, has been playing second fiddle to Mabunu, Ndlovu, Chinda and Mangaira in the four league matches that have been played so far in the 2024 season.
