CHICKEN INN secretary general Tavengwa Hara says their bond with log leaders Scottland FC will be set aside when the two sides clash at Barbourfields Stadium tomorrow.
“The Gamecocks,” as Chicken Inn are known, will need nothing short of their best against a star-studded Scottland team that tops the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League table on 56 points, just one ahead of second-placed Simba Bhora, who are reeling from a Caf Champions League exit.
“Scottland FC are very good friends of ours, but our friendship will resume around 5PM on Friday or just after plus 90 minutes of play. It will be a brief cut of ties from 3PM,” said Hara.
Scottland travel to Bulawayo buoyed by last week’s victory over Manica Diamonds and confident of capping their season’s final trip to the city on a high.
“The mood in our camp has been good. Everyone is gearing up for our return to Bulawayo where we face a tricky Chicken Inn. We are obviously hoping for good fortunes as we seek to maintain our fine league run,” said Scottland spokesperson Sindiso Dube.
Chicken Inn will lean on the experience of Brian Muza, Lynoth Chikuhwa, Michael Charamba, Donovan Bernard, Joseph Tulani, Mpumelelelo Bhebhe, George Majika, Neilson Ketala and Lincoln Mangaira.
Scottland, on the other hand, boast a glittering cast that includes the Musona brothers Walter and Knowledge, Peter Muduhwa, Khama Billiat, Tymon Machope and Terrence Dzvukamanja.
The Gamecocks sit 10th on the table with 33 points, level with Manica Diamonds and Bikita Minerals, and will be desperate to distance themselves from the log’s dangerous mid-lower pack.
Elsewhere in Week 30 fixtures, Highlanders, still not fully safe from relegation, head to Harare to face Herentals. TelOne will take on Kwekwe United at Ascot Stadium, while MWOS meet Greenfuel at Ngoni Stadium. Manica Diamonds host Triangle United at Sakubva Stadium, and Simba Bhora square up against CAPS United at Wadzanayi Stadium.
Rufaro Stadium will stage the clash between Dynamos and former champions Ngezi Platinum Stars, while FC Platinum meet Yadah Stars at Mandava Stadium.
