THERE was nothing separating Chicken Inn and Yadah FC in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match that was played at Luveve Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Despite both teams creating numerous chances, none managed to find the back of the net and had to settle for a goalless draw.
The Gamecoks made some glaring changes to their regular starting 11 with spacey forwards, Michael Charamba and Brian Muza starting from the bench. The duo came in as second half substitutes.
Chicken Inn were the first to look threading as early as the third minute. threatening early on in the third minute. A Athur Chinda cross was cleared onto Irvine Mukombwe’s path, however, the Gamecocks’ midfielder’s effort was blocked.
Soon after, Evans Rusike found himself unmarked in the box but skied his effort over the bar.
In the 11th minute, Malvin Hwata came close to putting Chicken Inn in front but his shot from inside the box went wide off goal.
With the home side dominating proceedings in the early stages, Miguel Feldman decided to test Marshall Takarinda but his shot from the edge of the box was punched away for a corner kick.
In the 22nd minute, Genious Mutungamiri’s curler from outside the box went just wide.
At the half hour mark, poster boy Khama Billiat got a free kick in a promising area but his effort went over the bar.
As both teams continued their search for the opener, Chicken Inn midfielder Joseph Tulani got yet another chance for the hosts but his header went wide as well.
Chicken Inn would go on to make one half time change with Brighton Makopa coming in for Albert Nyamutsaka.
Soon after the start of the second half, Billiat missed a good chance in front of goal with his shot going wide.
Chicken Inn would go on to waste another chance in front of goal with Makopa heading off target.
Just after the hour mark, Evans Rusike dribbled past a couple of Chicken Inn defenders but his shot was blocked by a solid Chinda.
From the left flank, Billiat would go on to send in a brilliant cross into the box which, however, found no takers.
In the 64th minute, Mutungamiri would go on to miss a glorious chance for the Gamecocks.
The skillful winger failed to head home a brilliant Michael Charamba cross. He missed the ball with an empty net left to beat.
At full time, Chicken Inn felt hard done as they were denied a penalty with the referee deciding that it was a free kick on the edge of the box instead. George Majika’s shot was saved by Takarinda.
