Chicken offal dispute leads to pepper spray attack

A 34-year-old Bulawayo man has appeared in court facing an assault charge after he allegedly sprayed another man on the face with pepper spray during a dispute over chicken offal.

Nkosilathi Khoza of Southwold suburb appeared before Bulawayo magistrate, Ms Patience Madondo on assault charges.
He was granted US$50 bail and will return to court on December 4, 2025 for continuation of trial.

According to the State, represented by prosecutor Ms Rumbidzai Gwishiri, the incident occurred on October 27 at around 12:30PM at Southwold Shopping Centre.
Ms Gwishiri told the court that on the day of the incident Khoza and the complainant had a misunderstanding over chicken offals.

“The accused person then sprayed the complainant with pepper spray on the face,” said Ms Gwishiri.
The complainant then reported the matter to the police, leading to the arrest of Khoza.
