FORMER Warriors coach Misheck Chidzambwa has bounced back into mainstream football after he was appointed technical advisor to the Mighty Warriors and Under-23 women teams respectively. The former Dynamos and national team player was last involved with active football in 2011 when he was head coach of Blue Ribbon in their maiden Premiership football.

The new technical team set-up, that had Rosemary Mugadza retained as the Mighty Warriors head coach, also saw Tsholotsho Football Club assistant coach Sithethelelwe “Kwinji 15” Sibanda named as the Under-23 national team coach.

She will be in charge of the team’s Olympics qualifiers that begin towards the end of this month.

Legendary goalkeeper Peter “Captain Oxo” Nkomo will be Sibanda’s goalkeepers’ coach.

The ZIFA High Performance Technical committee met in the capital last week where they also confirmed history making coach Callisto Pasuwa as the Warriors head coach.

John Phiri, ZIFA board member and head of the High Performance Technical committee, yesterday said it was now up to the ZIFA board to draft a contract for the technical teams.

“The HPC chose Chidzambwa to be the senior women and Under-23 women national teams’ technical advisor.

“Rosemary was retained as the Mighty Warriors coach while Sithethelewe will be in charge of the Olympic qualifiers, she too will be advised by Chidzambwa,” said Phiri.

Kwinji 15’s first assignment will be a second round away trip to Zambia over the weekend of May 22-24 in the Olympic qualifiers, that saw 18 African countries entering the race for qualifiers among them giants, Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana and South Africa.

The second round will begin on the weekend of July 17-19 with the fourth and final qualifying round set for October 2-4.
