CHIDZOMBA Foundation has come to the rescue of Zifa Northern Region Soccer League outfit, Chinhoyi Rangers, by availing US$6000 for affiliation with the NRSL for the 2025 season.
Chinhoyi Rangers won the ticket to represent the province after beating Kadoma-based side, Berks FC in the play offs.
Club chairman, Leonard Matigi was very grateful to the Foundation for the good gesture.
“First and foremost, as Chinhoyi Rangers, we would like to give our sincere gratitude to Chidzomba Foundation for paying our affiliation fees of US$6000 to the Northern Region Soccer League.
“The Foundation’s main goal is to make sure that the youths are kept occupied and not to indulge in drug and alcohol abuse,” said Matigi.
He added:
“The foundation has been extending a helping hand not only to Rangers, but also to other different sporting disciplines in the city and the province at large,” said Matigi.
He said Rangers was not promoted to add to the numbers in the league but to stay afloat.
“We gained promotion not to up make numbers. We are targeting to finish the season in a modest position, and I am sure we are going to withstand the heat,” said Matigi.
He said Northern Region is one of the toughest leagues in the country.
Matigi also thanked their supporters for their unwavering support.
“We are happy to have the 12th men in the team which is our supporters. They have been with the team through thick and thin and we are grateful. I want to urge them to keep on supporting the team and being disciplined.”
Thomas Chidzomba told Zimpapers Sports Hub, the Foundation had a role to play in the growth and development of sports in the province
Chidzomba said he always believes in the spirit of ploughing back to society, so as to drive the youths away from drug and substance abuse.
“It is very critical to plough back to society so as to compliment government’s efforts in its fight against the drug scourge that has become a menace to society.
“Sports unifies people and as the Foundation it is our duty and responsibility to plough back to society whenever its necessary,” said Chidzomba.
