Chief Siachilaba to be installed

THE Government has named Mr Nona Mwembe as Chief Siachilaba, three years after the death of his uncle Mr Mackson Mudimba in 2013.

Binga District Administrator Mrs Lydia Banda said Mr Mwembe’s appointment was approved last year and he will be installed next month.

“We received the approval letter from the President (Mugabe) last year in December with the name of the person who is now the Chief Siachilaba. We went to Siachilaba and told the people of his approval and he has been granted permission to rule.”

The appointment comes at a time when villagers in Siachilaba were now consulting Chief Saba for traditional cases. Mr Mwembe will be installed as the new chief of Siachilaba area following a two-year wrangle which had been going on over the chieftaincy as his cousins and uncles were against his appointment. — Lackson Munkombwe
