The seventh Chief Wozhele was installed on Friday at Old Council in Sanyati District amid calls for traditional leaders to be true custodians of culture and the environment.
Mr Kephas Mahule Chikwata replaced Mr Rabson Mudzingwa Hozheri (89) who had been acting for six years following the death of Mr Jokoniya Mudzingwa in 2018.
Local Government and Public Works Minister Daniel Garwe presided over the installation ceremony.
Traditional leaders from across the country, thousands of people, as well as Sanyati legislator and Mines and Mining Development Deputy Minister, Dr Polite Kambamura, graced the event.
Chiefs’ Council president, Chief Mtshane Khumalo said the newly installed traditional leader should work with the community.
Chief Wozhele assured his subjects that he will protect their culture and the environment.
He also vowed to maintain peace throughout his reign.
Mashonaland West Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Marian Chombo, represented by Permanent Secretary Mr Josphat Jaji assured the new chief of Government’s support.
