Chiefs coach praises teamwork

BULAWAYO Chiefs FC coach Joseph Sibindi has attributed his perfect start to life at the club to nothing else but team work.

Sibindi who replaced Lizwe Sweswe as head coach at Amakhosi Amahle has won his two opening games in charge.

First was a 2-1 victory over Caps United before last weekend’s convincing 3-0 drubbing of Triangle on the road.

As a coach one can never ask for a better start.

“l have not come up with any serious magic. It has been more about making the boys fully focused on football alone. It all goes down to team effort rather than what l have done. Personally, it’s a good start. l appreciate the work the club has done in supporting the boys. It’s not an individual effort.

“The guys in the team are helping on everything and their input has been valuable because they were here before me. The players have also been working hard,” said Sibindi.

Looking at the next game against Herentals at Luveve Stadium on Saturday afternoon, he predicted a tough tie.

“It’s clear from their game against Highlanders they are a tricky side. Herentals are known for surprising teams we have to be at our best to stop them,” said Sibindi.

Herentals and Bulawayo Chiefs were both promoted in 2018. Only six goals have been scored in their six meetings since then.

In those six occasions, Herentals have won two games, Chiefs one, the other three have ended in stalemates. The two sides squared off in last season’s Chibuku Super Cup final which ended 1-0 in favour of Chiefs.

Herentals are presently placed on position 10 with 18 points from 15 outings while Bulawayo Chiefs are sixth with 23 points from 15 games.

The visitors will go into this one fresh from a 1-0 loss to Highlanders in a match they gave their all and felt they deserved at least a point at Mandava Stadium.
