BULAWAYO Chiefs say they have sold none of their players despite transfer rumours suggesting several key players have already found greener pastures. Chiefs are believed to have lost their main man Obriel Chirinda to Dynamos while attacking midfielder Mthokozisi Msebe is being hunted by Chicken Inn.
Msebe has his contract with Chiefs ending at the end of this month and it appears he will be moving to the Gamecocks.
Bulawayo Chiefs are understood to be talking to the player in a bid to extend his stay at Amakhosi Amahle.
Another key player who is said to have moved is Billy Veremu who is reported to have joined Simba Bhora who have come out and declared their intention to be active in the transfer window. Another player who has made a move is Danny Phiri who has rejoined Chicken Inn with the club said to have plans of romping him into their technical team setup.
Chiefs say Chirinda and Veremu have running contracts with the club.
The Amakhosi Amahle might find it difficult to retain some of their players as they struggled with player salaries for the greater part of the season.
On numerous occasions, the team missed training sessions and players threatened to boycott some matches. Bulawayo Chiefs Secretary General Dumisani Sibanda says he is only hearing the transfer news from the media.
“None of our players has been sold. We have not made any transfers and as far as we are concerned, all the mentioned players are still Bulawayo Chiefs players,” said Sibanda.
While they try to keep their players, Chiefs will also be hunting for a replacement for head coach Johanisi Nhumwa whose contract will not be renewed at the end of the year.
Nhumwa, former Manica Diamonds gaffer, replaced Joseph Sibindi, who left the club after a few games, having also replaced Lizwe Sweswe now at Gweru-based Sheasham.
Nhumwa did well to ensure the club maintained its topflight status despite the club facing financial challenges during the course of the season. Bulawayo Chiefs finished at position 13 on the league table.
The rumour mill already has it that Thulani Sibanda may be making a return to Chiefs, a team he led to the topflight league in 2018.-@innocentskizoe
