Chikona set for Spain trials

Dynamos forward Elton Chikona is set to leave the country for trials in Spain on Saturday afternoon.

Chikona is expected to undergo trials at Espanyol and Getafe. This means the forward will miss the much awaited Harare derby scheduled for Sunday at the National Sports Stadium.

The teenage sensation, who was scheduled to join one of Finland’s topflight league outfit, saw the deal crumble as his handlers felt it was not viable for the player’s development.

The player’s handlers confirmed the development to Zimpapers Sports. “His ticket is already secured. He is going to leave the country on Saturday afternoon.

“He will leave for Barcelona where he will go for trials at Barcelona under 18, Espanyol and Getafe.

“We felt this is the best move for his development and we are very optimistic that he will make it.”
