BULAWAYO businessman Martin Chikwanha will take over as the Zimbabwe Golf Association president.
He has previously served as the vice-president.
The ZGA will host their annual meeting at Royal Harare on Saturday with the vice president’s post up for grabs.
The AGM will see Chikwanha coming in uncontested to replace Mufaro Chiwoniwoni, who is stepping down, after serving two years.
For the vice-president post, Munodawafa Mutopo will battle it out with current Midlands Golf Union president, Stalin Masiya, and Chapman-based Justice Udzimbwe.
Chiwoniwoni said they were happy to have steered the ship well during their time at the helm of the association.
“The global pandemic Covid-19 affected most of our developmental programmes, as sporting activities were suspended, in most instances.
“Though this was an unprecedented situation, we remained resolute, in our quest to develop golf.
“We were excited that golf made an appearance at the just-ended Tokyo 2020 Olympic and left a lasting impression,’’ said Chivonivoni.
Zimbabwe’s Scott Vincent was the best performing local athlete, at the Olympics, after finishing 16th, in the golf tournament.
