FORMER Zimbabwe soccer champions Zimbabwe Saints are running out of time to register with the Zifa Bulawayo Metropolitan Province Division Three league whose season starts next week.
Chikwata, kicked out of the Zifa Southern Region Division One Soccer League last season for non-payment of affiliation fees, had indicated that they would be starting their campaign in the third tier league as well as establishing juniors.
For them to participate in Division Three, Zimbabwe Saints are supposed to seek clearance from the Southern Region Football League which they last competed in.
With only one weekend left before the season starts, Zimbabwe Saints might be forced to watch action from the terraces for the second successive season if they fail to convince Zifa to re-admit them.
“Time has run out for Zimbabwe Saints because up to today, they haven’t approached the league. What’s required of them is to make an application to be re-admitted into football and logically they have to start from Division Three. As a province we can’t register them unless they’re cleared by the Zifa Southern Region,” said Washington Chimanda, the Zifa Bulawayo Metropolitan Province chairman.
