Child President calls for peace

Bianca Leboho Herald Reporter
Recently-elected Child president Tinaye Mbavari has called on Zimbabweans to maintain peace despite the economic challenges the country is facing. Her statement follows kombi and police clashes, which occurred in Harare on Tuesday which coincided with a stayaway staged by civil servants in protest over the late payment of their June salaries yesterday.

In her statement, the Child President said peace was a key factor underpinning the prosperity of the nation.

“I speak on behalf of the youths in Zimbabwe. As the Child President, I want to encourage the nation to maintain peace at all costs,” she said.

“I believe that the challenges we are experiencing in economic terms are a phase that we will glide over soon.

“We need one accord to maintain peace and ensure that Zimbabwe continues to prosper and emerges even stronger regionally and in Africa,” she added.
