Children of war veterans have vowed to safeguard the gains of the liberation struggle through rallying behind President Mnangagwa in next year’s harmonised elections.

They said they wanted to ensure that the ruling party, Zanu PF, remained in power and take Zimbabwe to an upper middle income society by 2030.

The remarks were made in Harare on Sunday by the children of the ex-combatants, who were born during the heat of the struggle for independence.

They said they will defend the legacy left by their parents who fought for the liberation of the country.

One of the war veterans’ children, Cde Gloria Kaisa, said they had united for a common goal to prolong the legacy left by their parents who dislodged the colonial regime.

“We have resolved to come together from all places to join hands in order to take over and protect the legacy our parents left by ensuring that Zanu PF remains in power,” said Cde Kaisa.

Herbert Chitepo School of Ideology principal Cde Munyaradzi Machacha challenged the war veteran’s children to write the narrative of their parent’s history.

“You should carry on with the revolution that began with your parents as Mbuya Nehanda declared that her bones shall rise again and you are also the bones of your parents which have risen to carry out the revolution for the attainment of Vision 2030,” said Cde Machacha.
