Chilmund Chemicals come out tops

CHILMUND Chemicals were crowned winners of this year’s edition of Horizon Firearms corporate shooting competition held over the weekend at Cleveland Shooting Range in the capital.

Fifteen teams took part in the shooting competition, which comprised of five categories.

The shooting ranges ranged from three metres to 75 metres.

The competition featured the pistol section for ordinary and tactical shooting, SKS rifle for long range 75 metres, and clay trap using shotguns.

Chilmund Chemicals scooped the first price with 288 points while RBZ came second with 223 points.

Defending champions, Parirenyatwa Goups of Hopsitals claimed the bronze medal with 199 points.

Hosts, Horizon Shooting Club chairperson Sheldyn Dombo hailed the competition as a success.

“It was a successful competition and I am glad to say that the second edition has grown bigger.

“Last year we had six teams, this year we had 15 teams participating and we are excited by the growth of the shooting tournament.

Held under the theme, “Shooting as a sport, diversification of perspective.”, chairperson of Horizon Shooting Club, Dombo said the club seeks to demystify the notion of shooting.

“There’s a stigma around shooting; most people see shooting as something, but it is a sport. It’s a world-class sport, an Olympic sport, and we’re trying to introduce that,” said Dombo.
