Chimanimani man wanted for three cases of attempted murder

A CHIMANIMANI man, who is based in South Africa, Francis Makuma Magirayano has gone into hiding after he allegedly shooting and seriously injuring three people, including his wife following a domestic dispute on Independence Day.

Magirayano (30) had just returned from the neighbouring country when the incident occurred at Kopa Business Centre in Chimanimani.

The other victims are his sister-in-law and a shopkeeper. His whereabouts are still not known and police have launched a manhunt for the suspect.

National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident.

“The ZRP is appealing for information which may lead to the arrest of Francis Makuma Magirayano aged 30 who is wanted in connection with a case of attempted murder which occurred on April 18, 2026 in Chimanimani,” he said.

“The suspect, who is believed to have recently returned from South Africa driving a silver Toyota Fortuner (registration JV 70 SM GP), allegedly shot three victims with a firearm following a domestic dispute with his wife Mercyline Mahembe aged 26.

“The victims include his wife whom he shot multiple times on the cheek, hand and thigh, his sister-in-law whom he shot on the leg and a shopkeeper at a shop at Kopa Business Centre.”

All victims are currently admitted at a hospital in Chipinge.
