China, Belarus send Uhuru congratulatory messages

Chinese President Xi Jinping and Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko have congratulated President Mugabe on the occasion of Zimbabwe’s 35th independence anniversary which was celebrated on Saturday. They alluded to President Mugabe’s calls for unity and self-development through integration processes.

“This year marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of China-Zimbabwe diplomatic ties. I attach great importance to the development of our bi-lateral relations. The Chinese side is willing to work hand in hand with the Zimbabwean side to further promote our relations to a new high,” said Mr Xi Jinping.

“The head of state expressed confidence that joint efforts will help Belarus and Zimbabwe enhance cooperation in politics, trade, economy, science, technology and other areas,” said President Lukashenko. People from all walks of life, despite the severity of the weather on Saturday, converged at the National Sports Stadium and provincial stadiums to celebrate Independence Day.
