A Chinese company majoring in stationery, Milestone and Greatman (M&G), is assisting learners with scholarships and learning materials throughout Zimbabwe, which will help to sustain the learning institutions’ day to day administrative work.

This comes as relations between China and Zimbabwe continue to grow in various areas of cooperation.

Sino-Zimbabwe relations date back to the time when Zimbabwe was pursuing independence by taking up arms to dislodge the white colonial regime.

M&G Stationery is a leading brand created in China and is growing worldwide to take a lead on the global stage.

In an interview, schools’ marketing team leader Mr Brian Muchiwa said the programme was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility programme to bridge the humanitarian gap in the academic front.

Mr Muchiwa said more than 100 schools had already benefited from the donations.

“The scholarship programme and donations are part of the company’s corporate social responsibility programme as it also aims to meet the needs of learning institutions in terms of stationery,” said Mr Muchiwa.

“M&G Stationery is a comprehensive stationery supplier which integrates creative values with service advantages, and wants to make learning and work happier and more efficient.”

The donated items included writing instruments, student stationery, office stationery and other related products.

“Now in Zimbabwe, M&G has developed into a leader in the stationery industry and is growing rapidly along the road leading quality stationery suppliers in the country,” said Mr Muchiwa. “Currently, we are running scholarship programmes in primary schools where we are paying fees and giving stationery packages.

“We are currently in Harare and we are heading to cover every corner in Zimbabwe. We are having a stationery donation which we are also giving to the school through the programme which we call School Shows or brand casting in private schools, council schools and Government schools, both primary and secondary.”
