ZIMBABWEAN professional golfer Robson Chinhoi has booked his European Tour co-sanctioned Kenya Open place by winning the 2022 Tusker Malt Uganda Professional Golf Open at the par-72 Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa’s course in Kigo at the weekend.
Chinhoi took the lead from start to finish at the 17th edition of the Uganda Open Pro Golf Championships and will be looking forward to the East Africa Safari Tour season.
After a disappointing finish in his 2022 attempt back in May when he failed to make the cut after carding 71 and 74, the Mutare-born golfer will have another shot at the prestigious tournament.
The European Tour, which is in the process of re-branding to DP World Tour, attracts top professional players and it will be a dream for the in-form 31-year-old, Royal Harare-based professional Chinhoi.
The Royal Harare-based professional had all it takes to get glory as shown by his two victories in the DRC in the past month.
He first grabbed the Kinshasa Open before coming from behind to snatch the Lubumbashi Open title.
The professional event was part of the Absa-sponsored East Africa Safari Tour and the first leg of 2022-2023 lucrative Pro Tour.
The Uganda Open has grown in stature and is one of the biggest events on the Safari Tour, attracting professional golfers from Southern Africa, Central Africa and West Africa.
