ZIMBABWEAN professional golfer Robson Chinhoi will be the only locally based player in action at this morning’s Gary and Vivienne Player Invitational tournament at Lost City Golf Course in Sun City, South Africa.

Chinhoi is among 29 professionals invited to compete in the high-profile two-day tournament, which celebrates the legacy of South African golfing legend Gary Player and his late wife, Vivienne, while supporting charitable causes.

The Zimbabwean heads into the tournament in encouraging form after making the cut at the Stella Artois Players Championship, where he finished 38th to extend his run of consecutive cuts to four.

At the tournament, Chinhoi carded rounds of 70, 68, 75 and 73 to finish on a total of 286 and earn R19 250 in prize money.

He has featured in 12 Sunshine Tour tournaments this season, making the cut seven times and missing out on five occasions, as he continues to build consistency on the professional circuit.

Chinhoi is currently 51st on the Sunshine Tour Order of Merit with 250.73 points, and will be looking to improve his standing with another strong performance at Sun City.

Also in this morning’s field is Zimbabwean-born Portuguese golfer Stephen Ferreira, a multiple winner on the Sunshine Tour.
