A joint operation between the Zimbabwe Republic Police, Vehicle Inspection Department and Chinhoyi Municipality traffic police has netted 51 pirate taxis operating in the Mashonaland West provincial capital.

Acting provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Ian Kohwera confirmed the development, saying the operation was ongoing as they targeted to make sure that sanity prevailed in the province. The operation, which started on January 8 this year, he said, was being conducted across the province. Asst Insp Kohwera urged transport operators to adhere to local laws in order to operate without has- sles.
