A 25-YEAR-OLD Chinhoyi man yesterday appeared in court for having a sexual relationship with an underage girl (14) from his neighbourhood.
Masimba Alfred Tachiona of Rusununguko suburb appeared for initial remand before Chinhoyi Magistrate Ms Melody Rwizi, where he was granted bail after being charged under Section 70 (i) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23.
A trial date is yet to be set.
Prosecuting, Ms Odrah Chitoro told the court that sometime in July this year, Tachiona visited the 14-year-old complainant’s residence, which is a few houses away and proposed love to her.
The girl accepted the proposal before Tachiona started visiting her when she was alone at the house on numerous occasions.
During one of the visits, Tachiona led the girl into an unfinished room at the property where he had sexual intercourse with her.
The girl’s mother got suspicious after returning from Mhangura and quizzed her daughter who confessed to the act.
The matter was reported to the police, while the girl was taken to hospital for medical examination.
