Chinhoyi Municipality, which outshone other councils to scoop the first prize of the best Urban Councils Performance Awards category last year, is on the verge of landing another accolade after being nominated for the prestigious Mega-Fest Business Awards scheduled for tomorrow in Harare.

The local authority’s spokesperson, Mr Tichaona Mlauzi, said on Tuesday that the town and its Town Clerk, Mr Maxwell Kaitano, have been nominated for the best council and leader awards respectively.

“I am glad to announce that our spirited efforts as a council are not going unnoticed as our leader and the council have been nominated for the MegaFest Business Awards for the Northern Region to be held this Friday in Harare,” he said.

“Our municipality will battle it out with other councils in the category of the best local authority in the region, while the Town Clerk Mr Kaitano has been nominated in the category of Team Leader of the Year.” Mr Mlauzi said the quest for achievement was always at the core of the local authority.
