Chinhoyi school officials arrested over US$16 000 tender irregularities

Eight officials from Sinoia Primary School in Chinhoyi have been arrested for allegedly flouting tender procedures in the construction of a four-classroom block valued at approximately US$16 000.

The eight are accused of improperly awarding a contract to Roadmap Company for the construction project.

Among those arrested are school headmistress Constance Muzavazi, deputy head Collen Keche, senior teachers and members of the School Procurement Committee.

The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) apprehended the suspects at the school on Thursday evening.
