Chinungo on Byo Chiefs deal snag

Takudzwa Chitsiga, Sports Reporter
ZRP FC captain Tendai Chinungo has shifted focus and is targeting the Zifa Northern Region promotion after his opportunity to join Premiership outfit Bulawayo Chiefs hit a snag.

Chinungo together with club mates Kasimero Chimbadzwa and Lister Ndlovu were on former coach Thulani Sibanda’s radar but the Police outfit now need their services.

The club feels they are the core of the team and can therefore not be allowed to leave.

Chinungo said he now wants to guide his team back into the top flight and that needs hard work this season.

“I am not pained by the latest developments but Iam instead focused on my career with ZRP FC. I want to make sure that we win the championship. It could have been a good experience to taste premiership experience but we have to fight for it as well.

“We have a very good side which can compete at any level and we have been working hard since we resumed the pre-season,” he said.

The team was relegated in 2014 and is finding it hard to return to the top flight in the so competitive Zifa Northern Region Division One.

Bulawayo Chiefs coach, Sibanda had a stint with ZRP FC in 2014 hence he was interested in signing the three players to beef up his side.

In the same year Sibanda was at ZRP FC, Chimbadzwa was the top goal scorer and even had a stint with Highlanders.
