Chinyama to stay at Platinum Stars

PLATINUM Stars team manager Senzo Mazingiza says former Warriors striker Takesure Chinyama will not be off-loaded at the end of the season. There has been speculation in Mzansi that the burly striker would be released. He has failed to command a regular starting position at Dikwena and his contract is due to lapse at the end of June.

Mazingiza told Chronicle Sport, “We still value Chinyama highly and he is an important player who is still contracted to us. His contract expires in June and there is still three months remaining of which we are about to start negotiations with him to stay at the club for another season.

“Chinyama is a quality player, we still need him and we know his capabilities whenever he bounces back.”
Mazingiza added that the Zimbabwean marksman had settled very well in the North West. He has found a home and everyone at the club has been supportive of the big player.

Chinyama, who was signed by Orlando Pirates last season, failed to deliver for the Caf Champions League finalists and was shown the exit door by former coach Roger de Sa.

Chinyama is the fifth Zimbabwean player at Stars. Other players who have played for the team are goalkeeper Tapuwa Kapini, defender Obert Moyo, winger Joel Luphahla and striker Terrence Mandaza.
