CDE Chinyani Chinamano, son to veteran nationalist and national hero Cde Josiah Chinamano, who died last week on Saturday was buried in Dema yesterday.
Cde Chinhamo (60) was found dead in a trench near his home in Old Highfield, Harare.
He is suspected to have fallen into a trench on his way home from a local beer hall at night.
Zanu-PF Harare provincial secretary for finance Cde Dumisani Chipango, described the late Cde Chinyani as a dedicated party cadre who did not need orientation.
Cde Chinamano was accorded a State-assisted funeral.
“He had no major position, but we were working with him in the party. We have lost a loyal Zanu-PF supporter, Zanu-PF was in his blood.
“We are having a great challenge because we are losing some of the true cadres who do not need orientation on party matters,” he said.
Cde Chipango described the late Chinyani’s parents as pioneers of the struggle who fought against the colonial regime of Ian Smith.
“The Chinamanos are the people who showed us where we came from in terms of the liberation struggle. They were dedicated war heroes who did not only look after the interest of their family, but also the nation at large and generations to come,” he said.
The Chinamano family spokesperson, Mr Kenneth Chinamano, appreciated the support by Government in assisting the family.
“I thank the Government for the assistance that they have given us, they have provided everything for the burial,” he said.
Born in 1955 at Waddilove Mission, he was the third in a family of five children. He is survived by his wife, a son and one grandson.
