CHIPEZEZE KEEPS SHINING

JOHANNESBURG. Magesi goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze has explained how he did not expect to win the Carling Knockout Player Of The Tournament.

The shot-stopper was also nominated for Goalkeeper of the Season award alongside Orlando Pirates’ Sipho Chaine and Mamelodi Sundowns’ Ronwen Williams, in this season’s PSL Awards.

It was Chaine who walked away with the award, Chipezeze has outlined that it was an honour to make the nominations list.

“I was not even thinking about that one because for me to be nominated alongside those other two guys it was enough,” Chipezeze told Kick-Off.

“It shows the work that we are doing as a football club, because trying to help the club, it’s very special to me. Not winning it doesn’t not matter much, it’s all about recognition.

“To me it’s an honour to be amongst the best, and the work continues. As you know, as a goalkeeper, the older you get, the finer you are. Discipline and dedication keeps you in shape.

“It doesn’t just come in games you know, it’s the work behind the scenes. From here it one step above what we achieved as a club next season.”

On being named the Carling Knockout Player Of The Tournament, Chipezeze expressed gratitude for the recognition.

“Not really, I was just thankful that I was able to be recognised as one of those who put in hard work throughout the tournament.

“I was just excited to be nominated, and being able to win it.” – KickOff
