Elvis Chipezeze redeemed the Zimbabwean pride at 2019 South African Premier Soccer League Awards when he won the Telkom Knockout Player of the Tournament award.
Chipezeze and Kaizer Chiefs forward Khama Billiat, were the only Zimbabwean players in the running for South African Premiership Awards.
Fellow countryman, Khama Billiat, had been nominated for Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament after helping his team reach the final despite his club’s poor form that saw them finishing outside top 8.
Billiat, who won the South African Premiership’s Player of the Season award in 2016, was also a nominee in the ABSA Premiership Goal of the Season.
Chipezeze, who joined Baroka from Chicken Inn ahead of the start of the season, kept three clean sheets and conceded only two goals as his side went on to win the Telkom cup. The 29-year-old goal minder has been one of the bright stars at Baroka FC, helping the club to their first major trophy and survival from relegation. He pocketed R200 000.
