Tawanda Mangoma in Chiredzi
Chiredzi Rural District Council chief executive Dr Isaac Matsilele last week left the local authority after serving the institution for 10 years.
In an interview with The Herald, Dr Matsilele said he was now joining the Association of Rural District Councils of Zimbabwe as the secretary-general.
“I have now joined ARDCZ after having served as the chief executive for Chiredzi Rural District Council since 2009. I am delighted that I am left Chiredzi on good terms and my decision to join ARDCZ was driven by my desire to further develop my career,” said Dr Matsilele.
He said the good deeds which they achieved in Chiredzi were a product of team work hence all tribute must be channelled to the entire staff.
“All the success which we recorded as a local authority was a result of team work. The very spirit of unit and oneness saw us achieving various social economic projects,” he said.
“It is my hope that the incoming management will push towards the completion of various projects and start more projects that will change the face of Chiredzi.”
Dr Matsilele started his career as a teacher at Dumisa Secondary School in Chiredzi.
He joined Chiredzi RDC as an executive officer for community services and left in 2005 to join Zaka RDC as a chief executive before rejoining Chiredzi RDC as CEO in 2009.
During his tenure at Chiredzi he won several personal and institutional awards after he led the local authority to success mainly by maintaining clean books and with zero financial obligations.
He is now joining ARDCZ, which is an association of 60 local authorities in Zimbabwe.
