CHIREDZI Football Club, built on the ashes of the now defunct Hippo Valley, has been officially accepted in the Castle Lager Premiership this season following their endorsement by Zifa. Moses Chunga is set to lead the technical team after pushing for the club to be granted their Premiership status following their win in the Zifa Eastern Region Division One last season when Tongaat Hulett disbanded the Hippo Valley franchise.

Chiredzi FC have already begun their pre-season training with Chunga taking charge although he alleges that there were still some sinister forces trying to deny them training facilities.

Now Chiredzi await to be invited to an induction workshop by the PSL and the league has since asked the club to provide details to enable their registration with the elite league.

“This communication serves to notify you that we have received confirmation from Zifa confirming your promotion to the Premier Soccer League.

“Could you please as a matter of urgency assist us with the full details of your contact person that is the general-secretary, your home ground for 2014 season,” read part of correspondence from PSL competitions manager Elisha Mandireva to the club. Veteran players Fidelis Mangezi, Brighton Pamhirwa and Rowan Nenzou are likely to make a return to the top-flight league with Chiredzi FC.
