Happiness is a Four Letter Word, a movie with an ensemble cast led by Zimbabwean star Tongayi Chirisa, has broken records in South Africa. The movie is now set to create waves in Hollywood as it has been snared by an American TV network.
Beginning this month, the coming of age tale of three women in South Africa will be shown on US screens after TV network, Aspire, acquired the official rights to distribute it in that country.
The announcement came on the eve of the Africa Magic Viewersa�� Choice Awards, where Chirisa is in the running for the Best Actor in a Drama award for his work in the Thabang Moleya-directed, Busisiwe Ntintili-written movie.
In Happiness is a Four Letter Word, Chirisa featured in a cast that also includes controversial South African television host, actress and radio personality Khanyi Mbau and Ghanaian actor, on-air personality, television presenter and producer Chris Attoh.
To win the AMVCA Best Actor gong, Chirisa will have to beat strong competitors who include Ramsey Nouah (76), Sambasa Nzeribe (Slow Country), RMD (Oloibiri), Gregory Ojefua (The Encounter), Olu Jacobs (Oloibiri) and Femi Jacobs (Femi Jacobs).
The AMVCA will take place in Lagos, Nigeria on 4 March and 5 March.

Chirisa welcomed the news, reacting with excitement on his Twitter page.
The movie broke Box Office records when it debuted in South Africa last year, raking in over two million rand on its debut weekend, R5 million after only 10 days and 10 million after just 30 days. .
