Chirova not happy with team performance

BLACK Rhinos coach Droment Chirova says he is not yet happy with his side’s performance in the Northern Region Division One Soccer League. The former Premiership side have so far won two of their matches and drawn one. Chirova said he was not looking much into their position on the log, but the attitude of the players.

“When you come from another level going to the lower level league you have to adjust to the type of play,” said Chirova.

“It’s Division One and it’s tough there, so you have to approach it in a positive way.

“In the Premier League it’s an open game while in Division One it’s a tight game.

“Firstly, I have to deal with the attitude of the individual players. You can’t say you want to know them technically before you know their attitude.

“And as time goes on I will know how they play and see who is supposed to be in the team but firstly I am dealing with the attitude.

“My assessment for now is that I am not yet impressed because sometimes as a coach you have to build your own team during pre-season.

“I was introduced to the team a week before the league started. I took over from Jostein Mathuthu. He is the one who had already acquired those players but that’s not my worry.”

Chirova said they will be relying on the experience from most of the players since they were in the Premiership last year.

“Most of the players are the ones who were playing in the Premier League, they are experienced and mature although there are some junior players coming in.

“We need to work on the finishing department, that’s where I need to acquire some players and beef up, maybe one or two strikers during mid-season.

“And I need another goalkeeper, even a junior one. Other departments are okay,” said Chirova.

Black Rhinos lock horns with Blue Jets tomorrow at Rimuka and it’s likely to be an exciting match as the two army sides clash.

In other matches set for today, Lake Harvest, who had a slow start to their campaign, will take on Seven Flames at Nyamhunga. Both teams were relegated last year after finishing among the bottom six before they were recalled to the league after some clubs failed to affiliate .
