ZAMBIA youth international Obrey Chirwa has hailed his new coach Norman Mapeza and promised to deliver more goals in the remaining matches of the league and knock-out campaign.
Chirwa was the hero in the 6-0 humiliation of CAPS United in the Commander ZNA Charities Cup final at Mandava on Saturday.
The Zambian has come to the fore after winning the confidence of his coach, Mapeza, following the arrival of the former Warriors gaffer and skipper at FC Platinum recently.
He has grabbed the chance with both hands.
“My job is to score goals and I would like to thank the coach for the confidence he has shown in me,” said Chirwa.
“I am employed to score goals and to assist other players. I can’t comment on the goals I have scored this year but fans must tell me how they see my strikes.
“I am prepared to start matches or to come as a substitute and every time I get the chance I will do my best. My coach makes the decision and once I am in the team I will bang them.
“I have a lot of respect for the coach and he is transforming me into a good player.”
The 19-year-old Zambian international said his dream was to play in Europe at some stage of his promising career.
He scored his first hat-trick, since joining FC Platinum, after scoring in the first, 45th and 85th minutes.
“I am happy that I got a ball and a medal and I would love to have more goals,” said Chirwa.
Chirwa was spotted by Jairos Tapera, a former Platinum coach, when the Zambian Under-20 team hosted the Zimbabwe Under-20 in a friendly match in Lusaka.
The forward scored the only goal when FC Platinum beat Black Rhinos 1-0 in a league match in Kadoma to hand Mapeza his first league win at the club.
Chirwa also scored against How Mine, in the last minute, when he poked home a ball swung in from a corner kick taken by Thabani Kamusoko.
“Chirwa is brilliant and he has done very well so far,” said Mapeza.
