A Chitchem security guard, who was facing allegations of introducing sexual lessons known as chinamwali to a workmate he was staying with and sodomising him, was acquitted of the charges at the close of the State case.
This was after presiding magistrate Mr Kudakwashe Jarabini had found out that there was no incriminating evidence linking Abraham Chipuriro (40) of Unit H, Seke, to the offence.
Mr Jarabini also noted that the State’s case was full of inconsistencies with the witness giving conflicting statements.
The two, who stayed together were both employed by Delta Beverages.
Prosecutor Mr Edmond Ndambakuwa told the court that Chipuriro on September 11 at around 9pm reportedly told his workmate about the chinamwali culture when they were about to sleep.
He volunteered to teach him, claiming he was trained as a teenager.
During the same night, Chipuriro was alleged to have started caressing and fondling the fellow guard and only stopped after the young man screamed.
Chipuriro was also alleged to have continued caressing and fondling the man on several occasions.
On September 11, he reportedly forced himself on his victim who woke up, packed his belongings and escaped to a friend’s house. He stayed there for some days before Chipuriro followed him and took his belongings.
The matter was reported to the police leading to his arrest.
